The Giving Kitchen’s mission
is to provide crisis grants to members of Atlanta’s restaurant community facing
As unique as its mission,
TGK’s origin is a compelling testimony of the caring, generous nature of
Atlanta’s restaurant community. TGK was inspired by the outpouring of support
generated when Atlanta chef Ryan Hidinger was diagnosed with late stage cancer
in December of 2012. Industry workers and others know Ryan through his
restaurant work history including Bacchanalia, Floataway Café, Muss & Turner’s,
and the Staplehouse supper club. Sadly Ryan lost his battle with cancer early
this year. His wife, Jen, together with other restaurant industry leaders, have
committed to lending a helping hand to others in times of need, recognizing that
this type of support can be the difference maker in the fight for survival.
Over $40,000 has been donated to local
charites through the Smyrna Wine Stroll over the past 8 years.
Past beneficiaries include:
Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption
Smyrna Public Safety Foundation
Lupus Foundation of America
Woodland Ridge Foundation
Blind & Low Vision Services of N. GA
